Founder Late Arya Vaidyan P. V. Rama Variar:
A renowned physician trained in age old Ayurveda traditions of kerala, established The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Limited (AVP), in 1943. After this he established The Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam & Research Institute (AVCRI) in the year 1957. AVCRI is involved in promotion of authentic Ayurveda and offer clinical services, educational programs and conduct clinical research.
Late, Padmashri P R Krishnakumar who is the son of P V Rama varier was the Managing Trustee of AVP group and founder of the AVP Reasearch foundation, a non profit research organization promoting research in the Indian medicine system of Ayurveda. He was the chancellor of Avinashilingam University, the chairman of CARe Keralam (Confederation for Ayurvedic Renaissance Keralam), a resource center involved in efforts to standardize the Ayurvedic medicine. The government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padmashri in 2009 for his contributions to Ayurveda and with the National Dhanwanthari Ayurveda award in 2016
