With reference to the No.Z-15011/02/2009-COE (Pt.) dated 03rd December 2013, Modified deliverables under centre of Excellence Scheme
Objectives
Objective is to upgrade the The Ayurvedic Trust as Center of Excellence – Research Hospital for Rheumatology (Musculoskeletal Diseases).
The CoE aims to identify the best practices at this hospital for the management of the targeted conditions like Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lumbar spondylosis, Cervical spondylosis, Ankylosing Spondylitis and Psoriatic Arthritis. The entire pool of patients who attend the Out Patient Department at this hospital and the In-Patient Rooms are chosen for analysis. From the pool of patients, those who have been diagnosed clearly as suffering from the above-mentioned conditions based on established criteria are taken for analysis.
The goal of the analysis is to identify the best practices that have given good efficacy outcomes so that these treatment protocols can then be subjected to rigorous clinical evaluation. The cases documented for the above diseases are first classified for demographics and then filters are applied to select the patients for efficacy analysis. Patients who have made only single visits as well as those who have undergone treatment for less than three months are eliminated in the first stage. From the remaining patients, those who have suffered from co-morbidities are also eliminated. Through this process of filtering, we are able to identify those cases that have been treated exclusively for the target conditions and also have undergone Ayurvedic treatment for a reasonable period of time.
Out of the filtered cases who were exclusively treated for the target disease conditions, the outcomes are assessed for regular intervals of three months. This enables us to get a fair idea of how much time Ayurvedic treatment has to be administered to get optimal results. The treatments administered to the patients who responded optimally to the treatments will be used as the basis for developing best practices treatment
protocol.
The best treatment practices will be published in a reputed peer reviewed research journal at the end of the CoE project completion
