Triphala Rasayana

Rasayana is a significant concept in Ayurveda, one of the eight major branches of Ayurveda and is primarily concerned with rejuvenation, longevity, and the enhancement of the quality of life.

Triphala Rasayana is indeed one of the most esteemed formulations in Ayurveda, known for its wide-ranging health benefits.

The formulations described in Charaka Samhita, which mainly contain Triphala as a major ingredient and beneficial for rejuvenative purposes and useful in preventive medicine, are known as Triphala Rasayana

Triphala Rasayana is highly valued in Ayurveda for its health benefits, particularly its ability to reduce blockages in the body's  micro and macro channels, cleanse the digestive tract, eliminate toxins, and support the natural functions of various organs.

It reduces feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, helps easier passage of fecal matter, and improves absorption and assimilation of nutrients in the body. It also has immunostimulatory effects, which prevents common diseases.

Mode of preparation of triphala rasayana

As per Charaka Samhita, there are several formulations and methods for using Triphala Rasayana to achieve various health benefits. Here are four notable Ayurvedic formulations of Triphala Rasayana,

Made from equal parts of dried Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) with proportion of 1:2:4

Adjuvant: According to Charaka Samhita, This Rasayana should be taken mixing with unequal amount of honey and Ghee, supporting its scientific validation.

After 24 hours, scrape the paste off the iron vessel and collect it in an airtight container for storage.

Mix it in honey and 250 ml water to make Sharbat. Drink it in the morning on empty stomach.

Duration - This should be continued for a year.

Benefits:  It prevents diseases, slows down the process of aging, improves quality of life and maintains health. It is also good for eyes and improves hemoglobin level.

By leveraging the benefits of iron infusion, this preparation offers additional health advantages, particularly for individuals with iron deficiencies or those looking to improve blood quality

How does this work ?

In Ayurveda, the type of vessel used for cooking or storing substances is believed to impart specific medicinal properties to the food or preparations stored in it.
